My training and experiences as a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist priest, practices as a Chaplain as well as teaching with spiritual leaders from many different traditions, I have a deep appreciation for soul or spirit work. As a client centered therapist, I use psychological techniques as well as deeper spiritual practices to help clients explore their potential and purpose. With a psychospiritual approach, I find it possible to support clients with achieving a greater presence, self-awareness, and authenticity.
Sunday Spiritual Dialogue
EXPLORING SPIRITUALITY IN DAILY LIFE
Drop in on a Sunday group who meet to explore different approaches for engaging in life with peace of mind. We begin with sitting followed by relaxing with music or song. Carol O’Dowd, MPA, M.Div. uses her experience as a former head minister of a Buddhist Temple, a former Hospital Chaplain, and as a Mindfulness Instructor to share a short message to stimulate discussion. The talk and dialogues often explore the importance of addressing and balancing the needs of body, mind, and spirit.
ENGAGE IN A DIALOGUE
After the mindfulness exercises and talk, group participants engage in discussion. I enjoy facilitating as discussion of current events, research, and/or explain past personal experiences as examples of the week’s message. The dialogue often includes a sharing of a variety of experiences to help us understand the many different views we have. My Eastern and Western training along with my experience as a Buddhist priest teaching domestically and internationally allows me to share tools for managing the stresses and anxieties of daily life.
JOIN A SUNDAY SPIRITUAL TALK: WHAT TO EXPECT
Join the Sunday Spiritual Talk to explore ways to use body, mind, and spirit to tap your inner strength. Discuss ways to enjoy connecting with life, all of it.
Time: Every Typically the second and fourth Sundays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m MT

During this pandemic with all its emphasis on distancing, it is a challenge at times to connect. Given the isolating due to the pandemic and worrying now with the violence in Ukraine, it is time to find ways to partner with a caring heart. Gathering together, if only for an hour on Sunday, is a way to join with others on a path of peace.
Although we do not link arms, the talk and dialogue in a Zoom room, let us touch each other with a caring heart. We practice the teaching that in the midst of all that is happening, compassion continues to flow. We explore how in the midst of a virus that takes lives and robs us of our daily interactions, Compassion is still present. Participants share the many strange and wondrous forms in which Compassion arrives. Life is a journey best shared with others. Join us to overcome your challenges and explore techniques for re-discovering a peaceful heart.
